THE PRODIGAL SON

Parable of THE PRODIGAL SON

Deuteronomy_31-6

Comment:

“A famous parable indeed! And very relevant to our world today. Suffering. Repentance. Forgiveness. Rehabilitation. Renewal. The “fatted calf” does not do Jesus much credit, though, suggesting that he , in common with his fellow countrymen at that time, was not a vegan. Could this be a contributory cause to why he had to die in agony on the cross between two criminals, rather than, like Socrates, drinking hemlock and dying comfortably among his friends?”
(The “fatted calf”, bred to be killed by way of celebration, is reminiscent of the turkey at Christmas.)
